Ways to Manage Sacroiliitis

Along with the medications, there are some general ways to manage sacroiliitis. By maintaining muscle strength, we can support the Sacroiliac joints. The increasing flexibility of the sacroiliac joints makes some movements less painful. These movements include bending, lifting, sitting, standing and walking as well. Here are some ways that help to manage the joint inflammation and pain as well to some extent.

1. When symptoms of sacroiliitis are acute, applying ice packs to the affected area helps to manage the inflammation and pain in the sacroiliac joint.

2. A regular routine of exercises will help to improve the joint function in the affected area as well as help to maintain the flexibility of that joint. Exercises such as stretching, walking or swimming are good for improving the coordination and posture as well as the balance of the muscles.

3. Avoid those activities that aggravate your pain in the sacroiliac joints. These activities may include sitting or standing for a long time. For instance, if you are working at your computer for a long time, then stand up regularly and move around for a minute. Because activities that are aggravating the pain can even cause muscle spasms and hence make it hard enough to exercise.

4. Yoga is good to increase the flexibility of the muscles. You can learn and practice yoga as it helps to strengthen the core muscles that support the sacroiliac joint.
