In today’s advanced world, everyone follows the trend and adds it to his routine. We all try to follow what we see, whether it is an exercise, a viral place to visit, or any food to eat. Such is the case with sabja and chia seeds, which are pretty popular as fat burners. But can you distinguish them? Do you know other benefits of them? Have you ever thought about how much you should consume in a day? Don’t worry. We are here to answer all these questions.Â
How do you differentiate between Sabja and Chia seeds?
Sabja seeds:Â
Also known as basil seeds, sabja seeds are round and black and are native to India and the Mediterranean region. After mixing in water, sabja seeds swell instantly, forming a translucent coat around them.Â
Sabja seeds have a mild basil flavour and should be consumed only after soaking.Â
Chia seeds:Â
Chia seeds are native to Central and Southern Mexico. They are slightly bigger than sabja seeds and can be brown, black, grey, or even white. Unlike sabja seeds, chia seeds don’t swell up instantly. They settle down at the bottom of the glass, forming a gel-like texture. Chia seeds can absorb water ten times their weight.Â
Chia seeds don’t have a taste and can be incorporated into any cuisine.Â
Interestingly, what makes these two quite similar is their origin, which is mint. They both belong to the Mint family.Â

Nutritional benefits of the sabja and chia seedsÂ

Apart from helping you lose weight, sabja seeds act as a coolant for your body. They also help you combat acidity, detoxify your body, and are good for your hair and gut.Â

Are there any side effects of these seeds?
Our elders have told us not to overeat, and this applies here as well.Â
If taken in excess, sabja seeds can lower blood sugar levels. They can also cause diarrhoea, headaches, gut issues, and vomiting.Â
Overeating chia seeds can cause abdominal discomforts like bloating, gas, and pain.Â
