- It is known as NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis). This stage requires medical attention because liver cells start getting damaged. Due to accumulated fat, inflammation occurs, an open invitation to severe liver diseases.
- If the liver remains untreated, it progresses to Stage 3, known as Fibrosis in medical terms. At this stage, the liver is still functioning but not as efficiently as it should. The damage continues, leading to symptoms such as digestive issues and tiredness. Due to ongoing inflammation, scar tissue starts forming. However, this stage is still reversible if proper care and lifestyle changes are implemented.
- The last and final stage of fatty liver disease is Liver Cirrhosis. This marks severe liver damage, which is irreversible, but early detection and treatment can help manage the condition. Excessive scar formation in the liver may lead to jaundice and other serious liver complications.
- In Stage 4, symptoms such as severe fatigue, edema (swelling) in the feet and abdomen, pale or yellowish skin, and a rise in bilirubin levels can be observed.
How Does Fatty Liver Impact Insulin and Pancreas Function?
When fatty liver advances to Stage 2, it starts negatively affecting the pancreas. The largest organ in the body, the liver plays a dominant role and can disrupt the entire metabolic system, with the pancreas being the first to suffer. It affects insulin sensitivity and disrupts the pancreas’s function. Thus, it is evident that in 9 out of 10 cases of fatty liver, if left untreated, it will also lead to insulin resistance or diabetes mellitus in the future.
Over time, fatty liver also contributes to insulin resistance, eventually increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes. As the liver becomes fatty, it demands the pancreas produce more insulin to compensate.
In such a scenario, where the pancreas was initially designed to produce insulin for a lifetime of around 100 years, its cells become overworked and weakened by the time a person reaches their 30s.

When your liver is in its early stages of illness, it is quite easy to reverse the condition with diet and lifestyle changes. In addition, if you include detox shots in your diet, they work wonders, helping to cut down excess fat and revive liver cells. Let’s explore them in detail!

- Overnight soaked raw haldi drink:
Haldi (Turmeric) is excellent for the liver. If a person is diagnosed with fatty liver, they should consider making fresh, raw (kacchi) haldi at home. Fresh turmeric is enriched with powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

To prepare this, slice or grate cucumber and beetroot. Mix them in a glass of water along with two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds.
