By reading this topic you guys must be thinking how dehydration can occur in winters or what is winter dehydration. Firstly, let’s talk about ‘Dehydration’. Then after, we will be talking about some other points related to winter dehydration.

What is Winter Dehydration?

Dehydration is a situation when the water content in our body gets low even the body’s natural moisture gets dried and our metabolism gets weaken.

Most of the individuals have misconception that dehydration during winters is like greenery in deserts that is impossible. But guys beware, this thinking is not appropriate.

Even dehydration can take place during winter season. Why to drink ample amount of water in winters? If you have the same thinking then you should change it.

When it is summer, we have to drink water and many other fluids so that our water level is normal and inner heat get balanced.

With the rise in temperature and excess sweating makes our physical and mental situation uncomfortable and we need to take light foods, watery substances as much as possible.

We do a lot to preserve ourselves from dehydration. But what about winters, we just forget about the risks of dehydration. The reason is we have a misconception that dehydration and winters has no relation.

According to health experts, during winters because of chilling climate we don’t feel any kind of sweating and not even thirsty. And as a result, we prefer to drink less amount of water.

Many of us are tea-takers and this habit doubles during winters. Tea and coffee keeps us warm, so we prefer beverages instead of water. And this habit only invites dehydration to our body.

It is good to sip a cup of tea during chilling winters but its excess intake is bad. If you are really addicted by tea then you can have green tea instead of yellow tea.

What can you do to keep yourself nourished in winters?

Green tea is rich in health benefits. It contains flavonoids, antioxidants and many other health promoting elements. Green tea is best option; as it avoids any kind of health declining factors and in place of your normal tea green tea is 5 times better. It keeps you warm, light and active.

Soups are regarded as the cuisine of winters only. Most of us are habituated of taking fried, crispy, sweet, desserts, chips and other fast foods. Intake of these products increases during winters, because of a wrong thinking.

It is a misconception that intake of above listed food articles keeps us warm and healthy all the time during winters.

But it is not true. In fact right amount of diet with healthy stuffs is best for your body and also protects you from various kinds of diseases.

Fresh vegetable soup, chicken soup, corn soup, cereals soups are the right thing during winters. These soups are eligible to keep us warm and healthy throughout the winters.

Many of us are habituated of using room heaters during winters. It is good to use room heaters for 1-2 hours but its all day usage results in dehydration and weak immunity.

Things to do to prevent dehydration:

Doctors and physicians recommend drinking appropriate amount of water during winters. Doesn’t matters it is summer or winter, intake of water is necessary for smooth running of metabolic system and its functions.

Water plays a major role in detoxifying your body and also provides oxygen and essential nutrients to the body cells.

Symptoms of dehydration are listed below:-

  • Dryness in oral region
  • Wrinkled skin
  • All time tiredness
  • Headache and dizziness
  • Decreased amount of urine
  • Rough skin texture

Preventive measures to treat and prevent dehydration:-

  • First and the foremost thing is to drink appropriate amount of water daily. For males 3 liters of water and for female 2.5 liters of water is recommended. The height, weight, health and age also determine the amount of water intake.
  • Food should be mild and regular. After every 2-3 hours healthy food should be taken. Like milk, milk products, cereals, dry fruits, pulses, fruits and vegetables are advised. You can also include some non- vegetarian stuffs in your diet
  • Intake some fruits like oranges, kiwi, watermelon, salads etc that are rich in water content and Vitamin C. You can also take fresh fruit juice to remain fresh.
  • Fat- free and fresh soups are recommended.
  • Munch seasonal fruits and veggies such as spinach, fenugreek, mustard, bitter gourd. This will keep you warm and healthy.
  • Reduce the amount of beverages in your diet. If you are addicted with these then increase the amount of water. By this your caffeine level will be balanced and its adverse effect will get low.

So guys this was the winter dehydration. Be ready to tackle winters; now winters have knocked your door. It is not so far with it chilling winds.
