The main constituent in this plants are alkaloids and steroidal lactones. These include tropine and cuscohygrine. Cuscohygrine is an oil that is soluble in water. 3. Jatamansi (Nordostachys jatamansi):

This plant is also called as spikenard, nard, nardin, and muskroot, and it has pink bell shaped flowers. The plant helps in managing all the three doshas in terms of Ayurveda, especially kapha and pitta. The word Jatamansi is derived from two words jata and mansi.

Jata means dread locks and manasi means human from the term manas, as well as mind, a derivative of the word manas. The roots of this plant has a look similar to dread locks. This herb is a coolant and helps in managing burning sensation. And hence this herb can be used a dietary supplement for supporting healthy heart by managing cholesterol. 4. Brahmi (Baccopa monneri):

Baccopa monneri is also known as herb of grace. In Ayurveda it is known as brahmi. Brahmi is also a coolant herb that can be used for managing stress. 5. Shankapushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis):
