Mint is a fragranced  spice cum herb, which is dark green in color. It is an erect branched perennial herb with modified stems. The plant is thin, delicate, and bears oval-shaped leaves.

Cultivation and origin of the herb:

It is a very common plant known to all. It is widely grown in Indonesia, West Africa, etc. In India, mint grows widely in the Himalayan plains and Kashmir valley in a number of varieties.

Uses of Mint herb:

  • Mint is a spice herb, extensively used in Indian cooking. It is also used to prepare a lot of refreshing drinks like mojito, shikanji, mint lemonade, and many more.
  • It is used as a topping in dessert items.
  • Green chutney, a very refreshing dip is prepared using mint leaves and other herbal leaves.
  • Mint leaves are also used in the preparation of the Hyderabadi dish called Biryani.
  • An herbal tea called ‘mint tea’, is very useful for those suffering from digestion problems.
  • Several products like candies, refreshing gums, inhalers, toothpaste, etc are widely prepared with mint extract.

1. Treats Voice Hoarseness

If suffering from any kind of throat problems such as hoarseness, mint is a very good remedy. Prepare a decoction of mint leaves and rock salt. Gargle with this solution. It is very good to make your voice thinner, thus a boon for singers.

2. Enhance Digestive power

Mint tea and its leaves are able to cure a number of problems, related to digestion and appetite. If you always feel full, dyspepsia, indigestion, disinterest in food; then mint is going to be your true friend. It will develop an interest in food and will also keep your digestive system fit.

3. Treats Skin disorder

If you are always facing skin problems like pimples, dry skin, acne, and dark spots; then here comes the natural doctor. Take a few leaves of mint, and extract juice from it.
